Hyderabad: The Managing Director of State Bank of India, Challa Srinivasulu Setty, who is on a visit to Hyderabad participated in in various official engagements. He conducted a Local Board Meeting at LHO Hyderabad. He used the opportunity to interact with ground level functionaries in Telangana State and addressed officials through video conferencing (VC) and felicitated top performers in business & operations in Telangana State. On the occasion, SBI donated through the hands of its Managing Director two Maruti EECO 7 seater vans to two orphanage homes viz., Anadha Vidyarthi Gruha, LB Nagar, and Abhi Sai Dutta trust, Uppal, under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) inititiaves.

Also, for environment protection, it undertook tree plantation activity at LHO premises. Setty emphasised the bank's CSR philosophy before the audience for making a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals who are economically, physically and socially challenged. He further informed that the CSR activities in project mode are carried out through their SBI Foundation established in 2015, with a vision of becoming a premier CSR institution in India through the bank's tradition of "Service Beyond Banking".

Om Prakash Mishra, CGM, said they spend Rs 270 lakhs during the current financial year till date on various CSR activities and is committed to spending another Rs 80 lakhs in this FY. He also talked about the recent pandemic and informed that the bank spent about Rs 2 crore on various initiatives to fight Covid 19 pandemic. The relief activities include distribution of PPE Kits, Ration kits, Food packets and medical equipments such as ventilators, thermal scanners, ECG machines etc. SBI as a corporate citizen has also undertaken Sustainability initiative and recently contributed Rs 15 lakh for conservation of wild life by adoption of tigers, Mishra added.
