Hyderabad: The sleuths of Hyderabad Commissioner Task Force, South Zone Team, along with Shahinayathgunj Police apprehended a three-member gang for cricket betting and seized Rs 12.5 lakh and four cell phones.

Out of 10, a total of three people were arrested while seven others are absconding currently. The arrested were identified as Vikas Agarwal (40), a bookie, a resident of Barkatpura, Mahendra Patel (36) and Rajendra Patel (36) both residents of Goshamahal and native of Gujrat.

The prime accused Vikas Agarwal is facing financial crisis. For which, he hatched a plan to earn easy money by organising online cricket betting. "He came in contact with Mahendra Patel and Rajendra Patel and colluded with each other to organise online cricket betting through Web Applications i.e. Radhe Exchange Goshamahal, by getting an online cricket betting line from one Sagar, from Mumbai.

On February 1 they started online cricket betting by using cell phones for the match India vs New Zealand 3rd T20 at Ahmedabad with known punters by betting amounts and earning huge benefits illegally," said S Raghavendra, Inspector of Police, South Zone. The accused and seized materials were handed over to the Shahinayathgunj police station for further action.
