Kondapur: With temperatures constantly on the rise, the locals of Kondapur are facing acute water crisis and residents living in such areas are forced to pay a huge amount to private water tanker suppliers to fulfill their daily water requirement.
Residents are facing severe water scarcity for the past three weeks. The locals alleged all their efforts are in vain even after repeatedly knocking the doors of HMWSSB and GHMC for help.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Friday, Archana, a local resident said "After requesting the officials concerned for several days the HMWSSB supplied water two days ago for just for 15 minutes. All the bore wells in our area have dried up and we are totally dependent on private water tankers.
Our problem has worsened after the halt of these private tanker supplies from May 20. Private operators are charging Rs 6,000 for 6,000 liters of water. We are without water for more than three weeks. Many families in our vicinity have evacuated and are some are visiting their kin in other cities."
Narendra Palashankar, another resident from Jagruthi Colony, Kondapur shares, "We live in lane 3 of Jagruthi colony in Kondapur near police battalion, we have a Manjeera connection but they are releasing water only for 10 minutes every alternative day.
We have to call and order Manjeera tankers but it is taking more than 10 days. We have approximately 540 apartments and including our colony, everyone is facing the issue in Kondapur. For drinking water, we manage with water cans but that too is not available easily. Our bore well has dried up long ago and most of the bore wells in the entire Kondapur have dried up."
Prakash, a resident from Sri Hari Arcade, Kondapur says "We are totally depending on private water tankers due to the inability of HMWSSB to issue water. After the sudden seizing of all private tankers, we are facing more problems, I want to ask the authorities why they took this action in summer when already people are facing the issue and the only reliable source for them was the tankers."
"Chakravarthy P Venkat, a resident of Gautami Enclave, said, "We are facing drought situation here in Botanical Gardens, Kondapur. Manjeera water is coming for 10 minutes on every alternate day. Hence, we request HMWSSB to at least supply it for an hour."
