The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Friday stated that a committee has been constituted to look into details of the proposed modalities for excision of civil areas of Secunderabad Cantonment with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
Hyderabad: The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Friday stated that a committee has been constituted to look into details of the proposed modalities for excision of civil areas of Secunderabad Cantonment with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
According to a MoD release, in the Lok Sabha Union Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt informed MP A Revanth Reddy that any decision regarding excision of civil areas of Secunderabad Cantonment and their merger with adjoining municipality would be taken after consultation with all stakeholders.
The committee has informed that Cantonments have often not witnessed the benefits of urbanisation to the extent of the neighboring city areas. It recognised the need for development of these areas as a major instrument for their growth and economic well-being, so that they grow in sync with the adjoining municipalities in housing, resource development, smart municipal solutions aiming towards sustainable infrastructure and services for a better quality of life, Bhatt said. The committee also recommended various steps for development of Cantonment areas, said a senior SCB officer.
