Mother of trafficked girl urges Sushma to help
The mother whose daughter was lured of employment in Qatar and was sold away by an agent posing as Journalist for Rs 2 lakhs requested the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to intervene for her safe return back to India.
Chanchalguda: The mother whose daughter was lured of employment in Qatar and was sold away by an agent posing as Journalist for Rs 2 lakhs requested the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to intervene for her safe return back to India.
In a letter addressed to the Union Minister, Tabassum Begum stated that her daughter Syeda Maryam, a resident of Kurmaguda, used to work as a nurse at Ashok Kumar Hospital at Mir Aalam Mandi in Saidabad.
She got in touch with one Fatima in Tolichowki, who used to visit her hospital regularly. She introduced her to one more Fatima (same name), who was said to be working as a journalist in Doha, Qatar, and said that if she agrees to work as a nurse in Doha she would be paid Rs 40,000 per month with food and accommodation. "My daughter agreed to work in Doha and went with Fatima (Journalist) on March 10, 2019," the mother stated.
However, when Maryam reached Doha Airport, Fatima (Journalist) handed over her to one Gopal and said that he would take her to the said Hospital. When Gopal was taking Fatima out from the Airport she, along with Gopal, was arrested by Doha police and taken to a local police station. After 2 days, Fatima (Journalist) came to the Police Station and took Maryam and sold her to one recruitment agent office for Rs 2 lakh, where she was asked to work as a housemaid in different houses without any proper food and accommodation.
"My daughter fell ill due to work pressure and wanted to return. The present employer is demanding money he gave to Fatima to release her. Along with my brother, I went to the office of Fatima agent at Paramount Colony, Tolichowki, and requested her to bring back my daughter, but she not only refused, but also abused and threatened me. Kindly interfere in this matter and ask the Indian Embassy in Doha, Qatar, to rescue my daughter as soon as possible," she stated in the letter written to Sushma Swaraj.
