Bagh Lingampally: The Telangana Resources Preservation Committee president, Gora Shyamasunder Goud, on Sunday demanded that the State government take back the permissions given for uranium mining survey by state forest advisory committee. He was speaking at 'Save Nallamala' pamphlet release programme held here at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram.

Speaking on the occasion, Shyamsunder expressed fears that uranium mining would cause severe damage to flora and fauna of the Nallamala forests due to air and water pollution and radioactivity. Nallamala forests spread in seven districts is a pristine forest and is known for its biodiversity.

The mining activity would cause irreparable loss to forest and tribal inhabitants, he said. Shyamsunder called upon various environmental associations, intellectuals, students, political parties and caste associations to come forward to save Nallamala forests.

The vice-president of Social Justice Party, Bongu Venkatesh Goud, the president of Advocate Association, Vennupusa Parusha Raju, the president of Telangana Jana Parishad, Valikonda Vijay, Raj, Mallesh Mudhiraj and others attended the programme.
