Polluted lake poses health risk to locals
Several complaints by the residents and number of meetings discussing about saving RK Puram Lake held, still the situation of the lake is in a bad condition as illegal piggery and garbage dumping in the lake has been continuing for months now and posing a severe health risk to the residents.

Though there have been several complaints in the municipal body, nothing has done by the officials to save the lake.
Residents alleged that no actions have so far been taken by municipal body and the local authorities. The officials have been saying that the pollution board has taken samples and would take action based on the result, said the residents. They said that even the GHMC officials of the Malkajgiri division had visited the lake several times no action has been taken to clean the lake so far.
Domestic sewage of various residential colonies around the lake have been let out into this lake. The local residents are upset with the indifferent attitude of the officials concerned. The local are throwing the waste wrapped in plastic covers and this main matter of concern.
The residents who have already submitted representation to the GHMC and the other government departments requesting the officials to take action against the illegal piggery.
The smell is intolerable that sometimes even breathing becomes difficult, said Ajay Kumar, a resident of RK Puram. The stench is so high that pedestrians have stopped walking through this way, he added.
