Yalal: The construction works, taken up with expenditure of lakhs of rupees are going waste due to lack of quality. The valuable money of the people is going into the drain as the works become useless soon after construction. One such incidents took place here at Nagasamunder village.
An amount of Rs 70 lakh was sanctioned for the construction of side drain alongside the BT road in the village. Construction of BT road was completed three months ago and the side drain work was over 15 days ago.
However, surprisingly, the walls of side drain collapsed defeating the very purpose of the construction. The locals here alleged that officials did not supervise while the drain was under construction. The low-quality construction could not last for a month. "The contractor finished the work casually. The officials also collided with the contractor," a villager criticised.
When The Hans India correspondent contacted Assistant Engineer of Panchayat Raj Ramprasad regarding the issue, he said the drain would be reconstructed. He said that he was unaware about the incident.
After inspecting the construction, we would take steps in reconstruction if there was any need for it. He said there was no official negligence in the construction works.
