Power plants to get rail connectivity

Secunderabad: Devulapalli Prabhakara Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of Telangana State Genco, met the General Manager of South Central Railway, Gajanan Mallya, at Rail Nilayam here on Wednesday.
During the discussion, rail connectivity to various power plants of TS Genco like Bhadradri Power Plant at Manuguru, Yadadri Power Plant at Vishnupuram and Bhupalapalli Power Plant at Bhupalapalli District came up.
Rao requested supply of sufficient rakes to meet the increased quantity of coal from SCCL to their power plants for required power generation to meet the growing demand during the summer.
Prabhakar assured the Railways of early completion of all the railway projects on top priority and extending rail connectivity to the power plants. He briefed the Railway authorities about their expansion plan of Kothagudem Thermal Power Plant at Palvancha and requested to supply the sufficient rakes to meet the increased quantity of coal from SCCL to their Power Plants for required power generation as per the increased demand during this summer.
It may be noted that SCR has moved 3,194 rakes of coal from Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to TS Genco Power Plants as against 2,969 rakes last year. There was an incremental loading of 225 rakes this year.
