Serilingampally: The Sadar festival was celebrated on a grand scale in Kondapur the day after Deepawali under the leadership of BJP youth leader Chandrasekhar Yadav, with State party president Dr K Laxman as the chief guest. Among the participants were State leaders Raghunandan Rao, former MLA Bikshapati Yadav, Muvva Satyanarayana, Jnanendra Prasad, Yoganand.

During the celebrations male buffaloes, particularly those from Haryana – which were the highlight – were tastefully decorated and worshipped. All representatives of the community, both young and old, well dressed with colourful headgear, performed stunts with the animals. They were accompanied by drum-beating folk artists who danced gaily. People in large numbers from surrounding areas made a beeline to the area to witness the celebrations.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Laxman observed that the Sadar Festival reflected the unity of the Yadav community. Chandrasekhar Yadav said the male buffaloes were worshipped by the community as god, as a tradition observed every year. The celebrations enthused the Yadavas and brought about unity among them, he remarked.
