Musheerabad: The Telangana State Selected Teachers Association held a meeting under the leadership of K Narsimha Goud at BC Bhavan here on Friday and demanded immediate posting of 8,792 teachers who were selected by TPPSC.

The meeting resolved to organise a protest in New Delhi, by organising 'Chalo Delhi' on May 14 to pressurise the state government in this regard. Teacher candidates said that they would meet SC Commission chairman, ST Commission chairman and BC Commission chairman and would complain over the injustice being meted out to the unemployed in the state.

R Krishnaiah, former MLA and president of BC Welfare Association, who attended the meeting as chief guest, criticised the state government for not filling single teacher post in the last five years. While the neighbouring states such as Maharashtra, Karnataka and AP have announced more than two DSCs, Telangana state had not recruited teacher posts even once, destroying the education system in the state, he said.

Questioning the delay in recruiting the selected teachers, Krishnaiah alleged that the state government was trying to save Rs 100 crore budget by delaying the recruitments. The file had been pending with the Chief Minister for the past six months. He condemned lack of response from the state government in this regard despite vociferous protests by the selected candidates.

He said that the education standards in the state had fallen drastically due to delay in teacher recruitments and attributed it as an indirect reason for increasing student suicides in the state. Among those who were present were Srinivas Reddy, Ravinder Reddy, G Krishna Yadav, Jagan Goud, Srinivas Goud, Ramkrishna, Anji, Naresh and others.
