Zheerabad: Sugarcane crop in an extent of 11 acres at Patapur near here was gutted on Wednesday. Even drip equipment was also reduced to ashes. The incident took place very near to mandal headquarters of Zaheerabad.
Farmers said the loss would have lessened had fire engines reached the spot in time. They were at a loss why the fire engines could not be rushed to the site, though they were very near to the spot. The loss is yet to be estimated.
