Kaithalapur: The children studying at the Mandal Parishad Primary School (MPPS) in Kaithalapur of Borabanda are being forced to sit and study in a classroom which is in dilapidated condition. The children who were eager to study can be seen sitting on cloth mats in front of a patchy chalkboard.

Adding to this, there are only two washrooms, one each for boys and girls. The students of the school said that they are suffering a lot due to the sanitation problems and lack of cleanliness as well as basic facilities. Lack of proper maintenance is one of the reasons for students not being able to use the toilets. When The Hans India visited the school, many children were seen sitting down of a tree and having their lunch and later washing their plates after eating.

Srinivas, Head master of the school said that for a total of 102 students there are only 2 teachers to teach them. He said, "It is very difficult for the 2 teachers to manage a strength of 102 students of different standards. The manhole of the washrooms has been blocked for the past 15 days. However several complaints were given to the officials after which they sent a plumber."

"There are two classrooms out of which one is in pathetic condition and which cannot be used for teaching these small kids. The other classroom is quite small for a strength of more than 100 children and is also in a dilapidated condition, due to which many classes are taken on the grounds of the school," added Srinivas.
