Telangana State Govt flayed for alleged anomalies at TMREIS
Alleging irregularities in one of the most prestigious schemes vis-à-vis minorities of the state, Tahreek-e-Muslim Shabban has demanded the TRS led government to demonstrate its sincerity, by ordering a CBI enquiry in handing over various contracts of Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TMREIS) since its launch.
Chaderghat: Alleging irregularities in one of the most prestigious schemes vis-à-vis minorities of the state, Tahreek-e-Muslim Shabban has demanded the TRS led government to demonstrate its sincerity, by ordering a CBI enquiry in handing over various contracts of Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TMREIS) since its launch.
While appreciating the concept of the Minority Residential Schools, Mohammed Mushtaq Malik, president of the organisation that backed the Telangana movement prior to the bifurcation of the State by spearheading Telangana Muslim Joint Action Committee (JAC), said that since hundreds of crores of rupees of tax payers money was being pumped into the prestigious scheme, all kinds of transactions made should have been made transparent by now. He said that the society being led by an IFS official is allegedly blamed for indulging in handing over contracts without following proper procedures.
"Allegations are ripe that tenders in the Chief Minister's dream project are handed over to influential entities. Funds were being diverted to benefit families and relatives of a few and contracts, starting from school bags, clothes, shoes, food and books given away without following proper procedures. The government must ensure that those who are behind it should be made accountable and forced to resign," he said.
No progress in internal inquiry
Critical of the departmental inquiry, which did not progress, Malik said the Chief Minister if he wish to regain the confidence of the community, should take up the matter seriously and handover the investigation to CBI with a specific deadline.
"On a serious note the state government must ensure that the project where hundreds of crores is being spent is not compromise on the quality and it remained serious about the welfare of the people unlike earlier governments under unified state," he added. Minorities' quota not implemented Mushtaq Malik said that even though TMREIS is said to be scheme, as part of upliftment project of Minorities, the number of faculty and non-faculty in the schools have been reduced to less than 10% from Muslim community. It has become an employment generation scheme for non-Minorities.
While in the other departments, even the workforce of about 4 to 5% is slowly being reduced, as existing staff is retiring. But, the State government is not serious in filling the vacancies. Even if it is filling, the existing reservation is not being implemented properly, let alone the promise of 12%. "The reservation in police, education, universities and judiciary is not being implemented properly," he added.
