Third Dhrupad Utsav in city on Sept 14-15
Dhrupad, the oldest and most profound form of classical Hindustani music, has been promoted by Gundecha Brothers through a trust 'Dhrupad Sansthan' established in 1999 at Bhopal.

In order to propagate Dhrupad, they have been organising Dhrupad Utsav all over India in memory of their gurus Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar and Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar.
One of their senior disciples, Manish Kumar, has been organising Dhrupad Utsav in Hyderabad for the past two years. The Third Dhrupad Utsav will be held on September 14-15 at Hotel Green Park, Begumpet.
On 14th September, Dhrupad sisters Amita Sinha Mahapatra and Janhavi Phansalkar will perform a jugalbandi. They.will be accompanied on Pakhawaj by Anuja Borude.
There will also be 'Pakhawaj Vrind' by Duaneshwar Deshmuk, Anuja Borude, Deepak Tiwari, accompanied on Harmonium by Atul Singh. These three accomplished Pakhawaj artists, learnt the instrument from Pt Akhilesh Gundecha for several years. Other than accompanying many Dhrupad artists, they have been an integral part of the "Pakhawaj Vrind" conceptualised by Pt. Akhilsh Gundecha.
On 15th September, there will be a vocal by 'Bihar Brothers' Sanjeev Jha and Manish Kumar, accompanied on Pakhawaj by Dyaneshwar Deshmuk. They belong to the same district in Bihar and have been trained in the same gurukul, Dhrupad Sansthan Bhopal, under Padmashri Gundecha Brothers. They are the first Dhrupad jugalbandi pair from Bihar who are trained in and perform the "Dagar Vaani" style of Dhrupad.
They have been performing as the Bihar Brothers since 2014. Another vocal will be by Padamshri Uma Kant Gundecha and Padmashri Ramakant Gundecha, accompanied on Pakhawaj by Pt. Akhilesh Gundecha. Umakant and Ramakant Gundecha are the leading exponents of the Dhrupad style of music.
They are among the most active performers in Indian and international circuits. For their contribution to the field of Dhrupad and Indian Classical Music, they were conferred the "Padmashri" in 2012 and the "Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, 2017" by the Government of India.
