Hyderabad: Google and Apple have removed Chinese internet firm Bytedance's social media app Tik Tok from the Play Store and App Store respectively, following the directions of the Ministry of Electronics And Information Technology, after an order by the Madras High Court on April 3 to prohibit its downloads.

The downloads have been prohibited since Tuesday and the citizens in the twin cities have been venting their anguish and anger. The popular app used by teenagers for creation and sharing of short videos was available for download on both Play Store and App Store until Tuesday evening but no longer available on both the platforms .

The Madras High Court on Tuesday refused to stay the ban on the app and appointed an independent counsel to the case. The court asked the Supreme Court to ban the app, claiming that children using the app were vulnerable to exposure by sexual predators, It exposed children to troubling content including pornography. Earlier in the week the Supreme Court had also refused to stay the interim ban on the app downloads .

A lot of reactions and hilarious memes trolling the Tik Tok users are going viral on the social media. The youth has been posting videos and making comments on how they were disappointed by the government and the Supreme Court of India. With PUBG being banned in some parts of the country, teenagers took to Instagram and Tic Tok accounts to post their reactions.
