Vijayawada: Police to increase vigilance on cybercrimes
To increase the vigil on the cybercrime and to check cyber criminals, the State police is gearing up to inaugurate cyber cells, Social media labs throughout the State.
Vijayawada: To increase the vigil on the cybercrime and to check cyber criminals, the State police is gearing up to inaugurate cyber cells, Social media labs throughout the State.
Keeping in view of the cybercrimes being reported in the State, the police department had taken the decision to strengthen the vigilance on cybercrimes and inaugurate the cyber cells and social media labs.
These labs and cells will be equipped with advanced technology, software, computers and trained manpower. One Sub-inspector of police with B Tech qualification and five constables will be appointed to tackle the cybercrimes in each social media lab. Besides, training will be given to 20,000 police personnel in the State in the coming years.
Director General of police (DGP) D Gautam Sawang, in a press release on Monday, said initially 300 police personnel will be given training at the Police Training Centre located in Ongole, Vizianagaram and Anantapur districts. Experts will train the police in social media crimes, cybercrimes and containment of cybercrimes.
Sawang said the criminals are duping the gullible people with technology. He said many criminal cases were reported related to OTPs, Covid vaccination crimes, Aadhar-linked frauds, insurance-related frauds, Bitcoin frauds, abuse against women and children in the media. He said cybercrimes are a threat to personal liberty. He reminded that from common people to prominent persons everyone is falling victim of cybercrimes.
Sawang said the cyber cells will be equipped with Cyber Crime investigation tools, Disk forensic tools, mobile forensic tools, password recovery tools, CDR Analysis tools, image enhancement tools, proxy server identify tools, E-mail tools, image enhancement tools, social media tools and others. He further said the cyber cells will have forensic workstation, laptop, high-end computer and advanced software and hardware.
The DGP has inaugurated the training classes online to the police personnel to combat cybercrimes. He said the cyber police have already identified the 1,551 professional cyber criminals and opened the cyber bullying sheets. He said the cyber criminals are under strict surveillance on their activities.
