Seeking to cash in on the immense popularity of the Ramraj Cotton face masks, fraudsters are selling fake masks bearing its trademark
Vijayawada: Three people who manufactured and sold facemasks fraudulently using the trademark of Ramraj Cotton, a popular garment manufacturer headquartered at Tirupur of Tamil Nadu, were arrested by the Vijayawada One Town police.
The three-layered facemask manufactured by Ramraj in white and other colours has become immensely popular. It was found that this popularity was exploited by the fraudsters who were selling fake masks bearing the trademark of Ramraj Cotton.
A complaint was filed by Ramraj Cotton with the DGP and the Commissioner of Police. An inquiry was ordered by the police officials and a separate team from the police carried out the investigations.
Gopilal Purohit, owner of Ronisa Impex, Vijay Singh, owner of National Lock House and Sureshkumar Jain, owner of Sree Navaji Prataj Chandiji Fancy Store, all situated on Pulipativari Street, were arrested. Thousands of facemasks were also recovered from their possession.
The officials of Ramaraj Cotton company said that they were taking action against such fraudulent activities. They requested the general public to buy their products from their authorised dealers and outlets only.
