Vijayawada: Voters should keep in mind the spirit of Amaravati agitation while voting, said Potula Balakotaiah, president of the Amaravati Bahujan Joint Action Committee.

Addressing the media here on Friday, he appealed to the voters to vote while sporting the green ribbon to mark the spirit of the agitation.

He said that the voting pattern should reflect the tears of Amaravati womenfolk sending a message to the Chief Minister and 151 MLAs about their plight.

Balakotaiah said that since the ruling party is neglecting the agitation of the farmers and women of Amaravati, it is high time they are informed through voting.

Akhila Bharata Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) president Velagapudi Gopalakrishna said that the State is now on ventilator. Stating that the Amaravati agitation is being carried on by womenfolk all these days and now Dalit brethren also joined the agitation. He flayed the YSRCP leaders, who destroyed the Amaravati capital city, for setting their eyes on the lands of Visakhapatnam steel plant.

Dalit Bahujan Front national secretary Melam Bhagya Rao recalled that the Amaravati agitation has been going on for the last 400 days with the support of people from all over world. He appealed to people not to be induced in the panchayat elections and everyone should exercise their franchise.

Several other leaders of joint action committee also participated.
