Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) is inviting applications from the eligible owners of unauthorised plots and layouts under the Land Regularisation Scheme, (LRS) said VMRDA Commissioner P Koteswara Rao.

At a review meeting with the planning and engineering department officials held here on Tuesday along with Additional Commissioner Manajir Jeelani Samoon, the Commissioner said those who purchased the plots without any permits are likely to apply for regularisation by December 31, 2020.

During the meeting, the officials explained that 663 unauthorised layouts were identified so far and 3,764 applications got registered online. About 2,562 applications from Visakhapatnam and 1,202 applications from Vizianagaram were registered for regularisation.

The Planning Department, including the panchayat secretaries said they conducted awareness programmes on LRS scheme in 18 mandals. Planning officials were instructed to set up a call centre to provide authentic information to the public. The Commissioner enquired about NAD flyover project works and authorities were directed to speed up the works. Commissioner Koteswara Rao took stock of various development works.

Chief Engineer K Ram Mohan Rao, Executive Engineers Bhavani Shankar, Balaram Raju, Ch Naidu, G Murali Krishna, Electrical Engineer Somasekhar and officials of departments concerned participated in the review meeting.
