Mayor Gunda Prakash Rao says that Warangal will soon turn into a spiritual and tourism hub
Warangal: The civic body of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) has approved developmental works with an estimated cost of Rs 127.40 crore during the general body meeting, here, on Wednesday. The Council discussed 95 agenda items and 19 table items and approved 308 works. Chairing the Council meeting at the Ambedkar Bhavan Hanamkonda, the Mayor Gunda Prakash Rao said that development works picked up pace in all 58 divisions of the GWMC.
"We have started working on underground drainage in the city. Efforts are on to supply drinking water on a daily basis to all the households in the city from Ugadi, Telugu New Year," the Mayor said. All the vacant posts in the civic body will be filled, he asserted, referring to the government's nod for it. Stating that as many as 25,000 dwellings in the city have no water supply, he told the officials to speed up the tap connection process to them under the Re 1 scheme. Referring to the ongoing works in the city, Prakash Rao said that Warangal will soon turn into a spiritual and tourism hub. The Council has decided to construct a municipal guest house in place of existing one which is in a dilapidated condition.
Corporators Vaddiraj Ganesh, Miriyalkar Devender, Boda Dinna, Bayya Swamy, Kesireddy Madhavi, Jorika Ramesh raised the problems pertaining to drainage, internal roads, streetlights, community halls, etc., in their divisions. GWMC Additional Commissioner in-charge Vijayalakshmi, SE Vidyasagar, CP Narsimharamulu, MHO Raja Reddy and Deputy Commissioner Godhumala Raju were among others present.
