The Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) staff and the Disaster Response Force (DRF) personnel were stoned when they tried to demolish an illegally constructed wall at Gollapally area in Yadavanagar under 42nd Division in the city on Monday.

Warangal: The Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) staff and the Disaster Response Force (DRF) personnel were stoned when they tried to demolish an illegally constructed wall at Gollapally area in Yadavanagar under 42nd Division in the city on Monday.

It's learnt that residents - T Sugunamma, Neelaveni, Rajeshwari, Ch Srinivas and others – allegedly pelted stones at the municipal staff. Hanamkonda Inspector Chandrasekhar Goud said that the GWMC authorities served notices to T Sugunamma and other family members to vacate their residence which was constructed illegally.

The residents also constructed a wall on the road. Following the directions of Municipal Commissioner Pamela Satpathy, the staff led by Kazipet Circle assistant city planner Bikshapathi and building inspector Raju demolished the wall under the supervision of Hanamkonda police. Following which the residents tried to block the main road, but the police dispersed them by resorting to mild lathi charge.
