In 2024, Rosneft Oil Company overtook ExxonMobil, Shell and Chevron in terms of oil production

Rosneft Oil Company's 2024 liquid hydrocarbon production amounted to 184 million tons, according to the performance published by the company.
It declined slightly from the previous period due to some decisions, but still exceeded the figures of large international companies such as ExxonMobil, Shell and Chevron.
"In the reporting year, the company operated in the context of oil production restrictions under the OPEC+ agreement, higher taxation, natural monopoly tariffs outpacing inflation, increased costs of anti-terrorist security, intensified sanctions pressure and an unprecedented rise in interest rates," Igor Sechin, the CEO of Rosneft Oil Company, commented on the results achieved.
Gas production amounted to 87.5 billion cubic meters. Therefore, Rosneft Oil Company retains its status of the largest independent producer of this type of fuel in Russia. Over the 12 months of 2024, the company's hydrocarbon production totalled 255.9 million toe.
The volume of oil refining in 2024 was 82.6 million tons. During the said period, Rosneft Oil Company sold 43.6 million tons of petroleum products in the domestic market, including 13.1 million tons of gasoline and 18.1 million tons of diesel fuel. At the same time, it doubled the volume of products sold on the commodity and raw materials exchange (SPIMEX) to 10.1 million tons.
Overall, in 2024 Rosneft Oil Company achieved growth in key financial indicators. The company increased its revenue by 10.7% to a record high of RUB 10.1 trillion, and to RUB 3 trillion in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA). By comparison, last year Shell's revenue collapsed by 10.3%, Chevron was down 2%, Exxon was up just 1.3%, Equinor demonstrated a 4% decline, and Total's revenue dropped by 9.6%.
