Noida: Launching a scathing attack on Congress, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has alleged that Sonia Gandhi and her family did not want to see Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah alive.

"What Sonia Gandhi said about them (Modi-Shah) is in public knowledge. This much is clear that the (Gandhi) family did not want to see these two (Modi-Shah) alive. Had Modi and Shah kept on working with a vengeance today then Sonia and Rahul would have been somewhere else," Ramdev said, with reference to the happenings during the time when Modi was still the chief minister of Gujarat, at an event here on Tuesday.

Ramdev further attacked Congress by claiming that former finance minister P Chidambaram had conspired to put Amit Shah in jail and their planning was to send Modi to gallows.

"P Chidambaram had once put Amit Shah in jail through a conspiracy, he had never thought that Shah would be able to trouble or disrespect him. They thought Shah will rot in jail and Modi will be sent to the gallows," Ramdev said.

In his speech, Ramdev further claimed that "even Sonia and Rahul are in the clutches of law today."

Hitting out at Congress leader P Chidambaram, Yoga Guru Ramdev on Tuesday said he is paying for his "deeds" because he "broke" the law.

"One day I asked Justice Hegde what he thinks is the biggest principle in life that one should follow. He said one should never break the law. If you will break the rule, you will have to face what Chidambaram is facing today," he said.

"Chidambaram used to think that "I am the finance minister and the whole empire is mine. I am the Home Minister and the law is in his hand" but today he is facing the wrath of his deeds. Just because of one thing that he broke the law," Ramdev said.

Chidambaram who is currently in judicial custody in Tihar in connection with the INX Media case, was the home minister when there was a midnight crackdown on a gathering of Ramdev and his followers against corruption at the Ramlila Maidan in the capital in June 2011.
