New Delhi: Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Environment and Forests, Prakash Javadekar, termed Sonia Gandhi's demand for Union Home Minister, Amit Shah's resignation as laughable. Javadekar at a media conference on Wednesday said that the Congress party which was responsible for the genocide of Sikhs in Delhi had no moral right to question the BJP or demand the Home Minister's resignation.

The BJP leader clarified that Home Minister Amit Shah was constantly monitoring the violence in Delhi over the last few days, regardless of where he was. The entire sequence of violent incidents would be probed thoroughly and the guilty punished, he assured media persons. He refused to comment on BJP leader Kapil Mishra'sremarks saying the matter was under the scrutiny of the Delhi High Court.

Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad responded to Sonia Gandhi's press conference earlier in the day. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, the Union Law Minister said that it is important at this hour for everyone to come together and maintain peace and brotherhood and rise above politics. RS Prasad pointed out that there have been instances of people inciting others and indulging in acts of arson and rioting. All these matters form a subject of investigation, he added.

RS Prasad said that it was regrettable that Sonia Gandhi decided to politicize the entire manner. He said that he could say a lot about the history of the Congress and about how it tried to undermine the morale of the armed forces on surgical strikes or the airstrikes of Balakot.

The Union Law Minister said he had his own set of questions for Congress leaders and Sonia Gandhi. Referring to the absence of Congress party leaders at the Rashtrapati Bhavan banquet in honor of President Trump, he asked, "has the Congress party stooped to a level where the interest of a family are placed above the interest of the country?" He described the US President's visit to India as a historic one.
