The Chief Post Master General of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana BV Sudhakar launched the innovative service of offering ‘fistful of rice’ scheme in Vijayawada on Friday. A few months ago, during his visit to the city, he had advised the staff to keep a fistful of rice aside everyday and contribute it at the end of the month to some orphanage or old age home. Inspired by this goodwill gesture, the employees took up the initiative in the city promptly and kept one fistful of rice every day.
On his next visit to the city, the employees, having collected a fistful of rice from every home, donated it to an old age home at Kanuru which is run by city-based Senior Citizens Forum. Overwhelmed, Sudhakar thanked the employees for their participation. He wanted every employee to keep one fistful of rice aside everyday and donate it to some orphanage or charity home. “This is a small way of serving the society. It gives us great satisfaction,” observed the Chief Post Master General. He thanked the Vijayawada Region post master general M Sampath and other employees for the initiative.
