Mayor Koneru Sridhar inaugurated a free yoga training camp for girl students of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) schools at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the camp was meant for girl students of sixth to tenth classes to enable them to perform well in the forthcoming annual examinations by enhancing their concentration and memory power through the regular practice of yoga.

Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the camp was meant for girl students of sixth to tenth classes to enable them to perform well in the forthcoming annual examinations by enhancing their concentration and memory power through the regular practice of yoga.

“The State government has taken up this initiative as yoga will help students concentrate on their studies and overcome stress. Students should practice yoga for their physical strength and mental health. If they master the ancient exercise, they can take part in the State and national level yoga competitions,” Sridhar said.

Municipal Commissioner G Veerapandian encouraged students to take up yoga for performing well in the forthcoming annual examinations. Andhra Pradesh Yoga Association general secretary VV Rama Rao explained the benefits of yoga through a demonstration. VMC Cultural and Education Committee chairman K Mallikharjuna Yadav, Telugu Desam Party floor leader in VMC G Hari Babu, deputy education officer Durga Prasad, executive engineer Dhanunjay, sports cell in-charge JD Srinivasa Rao, District Sports Development Officer (DSDO) P Rama Krishna and physical education teachers of VMC schools were present.
