A unique literary programme ‘Sata Sangeeta Navavadhanam’ by Dr Meegada Ramalinga Swamy was organised by the Department of Culture and Language, Government of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday evening at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Music and Dance College.

A unique literary programme ‘Sata Sangeeta Navavadhanam’ by Dr Meegada Ramalinga Swamy was organised by the Department of Culture and Language, Government of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday evening at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Music and Dance College.

Over 50 students attended this programme to get their questions answerd. The concept of the programme is very novel and attractive to the connoisseurs. This is also like ‘avadhanas’ style but here the ‘avadhani’ has given sloka and poems from different aspects like ‘puranam’, ‘satakam’, ‘prabandham’, ‘natakam’, ‘avadhanam’, ‘modern’ and ‘slokam’ for the students to ask the avadhani to render in a specific ‘ragam’.

Meegada Ramalinga Swamy is a noted actor and writer, who won 24 Nandi awards in the category of ‘Padyanataka’ competitions conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Government. Meegada Ramalinga Swamy said that this programme has been a success everywhere and audiences are enjoying the flavor of the poem with raga.

He also added that this programme is set up to protect the ‘telugu padyam’ and literature. He requested the audience and also the public to teach one poem every day to their children. Meegada said that the Telugu people residing in other countries are keen in learning ‘Telugu padyam’ and to protect our language.

The students asked duly rendering the poems of Vemana Satakam, Dasarathi satakam, Sumati satakam, Bhagavatam written by Potana, and also the poems from drams like Harischandra, Pandavodyga Vijayalu. The avadhani, Meegada Ramalinga Swamy rendered the same poems in the ragam chosen by the student excellently with his metallic and molded voice.

The ‘padyam’ in ragas like Kedaragowla’, Mohana, Hindola, sankarabharanam, Bhimpls, Darbari kanada, Anadabhiravi and other ragas. Dr Palaparthi Syamalanada Prasad, Golla Narayana Rao, Gumma Sambasivarao and other were also present on the dais.
