Maruti Suzuki is known across India for its calibre in producing cost efficient and customer friendly passenger cars. It would have been surprising to see the auto giant enter into the light commercial vehicle segment, then. But now, Maruti Suzuki is foraying into the LCV segment with the Super Carry. The vehicle will go on sale from August and will be sold in three cities for now. The diesel-powered vehicle will be available in 2 colour options- Superior White and Silky Silver.
The Super Carry will be powered by a 793 cc, 2-cylinder diesel engine which churns out 32 BHP @ 3500 RPM and a max torque of 75 NM @ 2000 RPM. Being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, it has a rated mileage of 22.07 km/l and with a top speed of 80 km/hr, it provides shortened trips and hence, more profits. It can bear close to 740 kgs of payload and for a vehicle with a wheelbase of 2110 mm, it looks more than stable for its posture. The van is offered with a warranty option of 70,000 km or 2 years (whichever occurs earlier).
The Maruti Super Carry is effectively safe with a fibre glass heat shield to avoid all noise, vibrations and harshness. All essentials, like the gear lever and foot pedals, are ergonomically placed to reduce the strain on the driver. Other features in the interior include a mobile charging socket, dual assist grip, tripmeter, odometer among others on the dash. The practicality associated with the Super Carry is massive. The design is simplistic, spacious and stable. Utilitarian features on the inside such as lockable glove boxes, increase the practicality furthermore.
In terms of safety, it has large and wide windscreens, rear view mirrors for both the driver and co-driver and additional rear lamps for a safer journey. For braking, it has frontal disc brakes and a Load Sensing Proportioning Valve (LSPV) braking system for adaptable braking. A robust chassis with galvanised materials and high tensile materials in the cabin increases the safety multi-fold.
Booking for the Super Carry can be done via Maruti Suzuki’s newly established ‘Commercial’ sales channel. It will be made available, starting in three cities- Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Ludhiana. The channel entrusts the customer with a Corporate ID (CI) which will promote openness and transparency to reinforce the brand trust. The customers could contact their sales channels in their respective cities or could leave details and enquire about through phone. The Super Carry starts at Rs 4.01 lakh (ex-showroom, Ludhiana).
