Home Guards Formation Day was observed at Police Parade Ground in the city on Tuesday. The voluntary organisation was formed 54 years ago and has being continuing its services to the people all through the country.

Home Guards Formation Day was observed at Police Parade Ground in the city on Tuesday. The voluntary organisation was formed 54 years ago and has being continuing its services to the people all through the country.

On the occasion of rising Day celebration City Police Commissioner D Gautam Sawang received honor from home guards. Later, he said that apart from being cops they also have extend their valuable services to the people during floods, fire accidents and spread of epidemics. They take part in promoting religious tolerance in many social and economic welfare activities, he added.

The CP further said that Home Guards provide security at VIP, VVIP programmes as well. City police has been using their services during Dussehra, Vinayaka Chavithi, Bhavani Deekshalu and for various Government programmes as well. Some of the home guards are working in many government departments, he added. In recognition of their deveoted service, various measures are taken for the welfare of the family and children of Home Guards with regard to their health and education, he added.

City police is implementing health and welfare services including insurance schemes to the home guards, he said. City Joint Police Commissioner (JCP) P Hari Kumar, Deputy Police Commissioners (DCP) G Pala Raju and GVG Ashok Kumar and others participated in the programme.
