Water should not be wasted. It should be purified and used in as many ways as possible, said Dr Samaram at a programme organised by Gora Science Centre here on the occasion of World Water Day observed at Nastika Kendram on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Samaram said that in the days to come, there would be an acute shortage for water and people would wage wars for water. This is very clearly visible in our day-to-day life, he said.

He added that conservation of water and protection of animals was very important. A drawing and painting competition was held on the occasion. About 500 students from the kindergarten to post-graduation participated. All the paintings showed the importance of water and conservation of water.

Chennupati Vidya, Dr Vijayam and Maruthi were present at the programme. Prizes will be distributed for the winners of the competition on March 28 by Gora Science Centre director G Niyantha.
