The department of Allied Nutrition of Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala and the Top Gear event management organisation jointly organised a ‘Chicken and Millet Mela’ cooking competition at the college campus here on Wednesday. About 100 varieties of chicken recipes and 25 types of cereal recipes were on display.

Vijayawada: The department of Allied Nutrition of Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala and the Top Gear event management organisation jointly organised a ‘Chicken and Millet Mela’ cooking competition at the college campus here on Wednesday. About 100 varieties of chicken recipes and 25 types of cereal recipes were on display.

Cereals Pongal, Raagi wada, Raagi sankati, mixed millet salad, Raagi egg-less cake were a few dishes made of cereals.
Paneer chicken spring rolls, korralu, chicken biryani, shahi murg, chicken cheese bolls, chicken dry roast, dragon chicken, chicken gujarala were the chicken dishes.

For dishes made of cereals, K Bindhu won the first prize for raagi egg-less cake. For chicken-based dishes, Aishwarya won the first prize for smoky chicken with banana and beetle leafs. Aslesha for Tandury smoky chicken, Vani Priya for Pan chicken biryani, Pratyusha for chicken tanduri, lecturer N Saritha for chicken mini bags won prizes.

Speaking on the occasion Top Gear event management representative Vijaya Sri Gupta said, “It is a pleasure to conduct such events, and all the students would know the nutritional value of the recipes.” College principal Dr T VijayaLakshmi appreciated all the participants of the competition. “By conducting such events, the students will know the importance of cereals and non-vegetarian dishes,” she added. All the lecturers, students and staff took part in the competition eagerly.
