Need for awareness on cornea donation stressed
The district Vigilance and Monitoring Committee member, Dhulipudi Venkataramana (Bobby) on Wednesday said that awareness of cornea donation should be encouraged in society.
Kakinada: The district Vigilance and Monitoring Committee member, Dhulipudi Venkataramana (Bobby) on Wednesday said that awareness of cornea donation should be encouraged in society.
He called upon the Badam Bala Krishna Eye Bank's staff to collect the cornea of Kandikatla Nagabhushanam (57) who died on Wednesday morning at P Mallavaram village of Tallarevu Mandal. Bobby talked with the family members of the deceased Nagabhushanam and persuaded them to donate the cornea.
Bobby immediately called the Eye Bank’s staff. The Eye banks staff Jagadish and Ravi collected the cornea and appreciated the noble act of the family members and informed them that Nagabhushanam’s cornea would give vision to some other person who is in need of it. Former Sarpanch Dunna Satyanarayana, D Srinivas, G Yedukondalu, Murali, Bala and Subrahmanyam were among them who supervised the programme.
