CS asks Collectors to prepare summer contingency plans
Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar on Wednesday asked district collectors to prepare contingency plans to rule out any inconvenience to people in the summer as he said, quoting the Met office authorities, the sun would be at his fiercest best during the next four months.

He wanted them to use the Nagarjuna Sagar canal water to drinking water schemes and to fill drinking water tanks. He asked them to supply drinking water to people through tankers, conduct medical camps, keep ready medicines to save people from sunstroke and ORS packets, provide fodder and drinking water to cattle. He was addressing the District Collectors through video conference to review arrangements for summer and implementation of the NREGS.
Prakasam District Collector Vinay Chand told the Chief Secretary that precautionary measures have been adopted and 55 mandals of the district have been declared drought-hit. The government took measures to release 6000 cusecs thrugh Nagarjuna Sagar. In Prakasam district, 200 habitats have been supplied drinking water through tankers last year. Efforts are on to supply drinking water through tankers to 450 habitats. Measures have been initiated to fill drinking water schemes and 290 notified tanks with Nagarjunasagar water.
Joint Collector D Markandeyulu, district revenue officer N Prabhakar Reddy, CPO KT Venkaiah, rural drinking water supply department official R Sanjiva Reddy, DRDA project director MS Murali, DWAMA project director N Solappa, district panchayat officer Prasad and others took part in the meeting.
