Hyderabad: In a notable gesture, Telugu film director N Shankar donated the cash prize he received for this year's Nandi award to the Telangana martyrs fund of a Telugu daily.
Shankar and his son Dinesh handed over the cheque of Rs 1.05 lakh to Namasthe Telangana CMD CL Rajam at a programme held on Monday. Allam Narayana and Katta Shekhar Reddy were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Shankar appealed to the youth of Telangana not to resort to suicides. "We should live to achieve victory and establish Telangana devoid of poverty," he remarked.
It may be mentioned here that N Shankar won the Best National Integration Award for Jai Bolo Telangana. He was presented with the prestigious award on the auspicious occasion of Ugadi few days ago.
