Around 150 tribals go in tractors to fetch the body
Khammam: The police on Saturday recovered the body of the Reserve Inspector; Varaprasad from the Maoist dominated area where he died in Maoists firing four days ago under dramatic circumstances.A After hectic negotiations with the mediation of Civil Rights activists, the Maoist Party leaders agreed to hand over the body toA the police.
The civil rights leaders, Varavara Rao, Raghunath, Suresh and Ravindranath who conducted the negotiations between them, said the Maoists agreed to hand over the body at Kauravagutta area.
The police initially thought of bringing back the body by helicopter. Due to inclement weather in the area, they sent 150 tribals to the Kauravagutta in tractors to bring back body to Charla. After post-mortem at the government hospital, the body of Varaprasad was taken to his native place near Anakapalle in Visakhapatnam district for final rites.
Varavara Rao alleged that there was delay in bringing back the dead body of the slain cop was due to the games played by the police. The Maoists were prepared to hand over the body on the same day, but to blame them the police delayed the process, he said.
