Sushma too expresses solidarity with T MPs who are on dharna
Hyderabad : Telangana ministers led by Minister for Panchayat Raj K Jana Reddy will be leaving for New Delhi on Tuesday. This visit is to express their solidarity with the T MPs Manda Jagannadham, Gutha Sukhender Reddy, S Rajaiah, Ponnam Prabhakar and G Vivekananda, who are sitting on a 48-hour dharna in the premises of the Parliament House.
These MPs are said to have resorted to the dharna to draw attention of the party high command towards the need for a quick decision on bifurcation of the State. They are demanding that the Bill on Telangana should be introduced in the current session of the Parliament. If the party further delayed action on this issue, it would lose its ground in the region, the Congress leaders felt.
It may be mentioned here that these MPs tried to stage a protest in the Lok Sabha, when the Parliament met for the second half of the budget session, but had to give up as the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi had asked them not to resort to such activities. They, however, sat on a dharna near the main entrance gate of the Parliament House holding pro Telangana banners.
It is said that these MPs were also peeved that the TJAC had not invited them for the Sansad Yatra. According to Manda Jagannadham, this was also one of the reasons for sitting on dharna. He also took severe objection at the TJAC, BJP, TRS and CPI for lashing out at the Congress party. "The 48-hour dharna is also to protest against the 'uncharitable' remarks made against the Congress party," he added. Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj expressed her solidarity with the MPs sitting on the dharna.
