Five MLAs including Dharmana resign

The agitators who had been spearheading raging protests against bifurcation of the State, relented on the 10th day on Friday on account of Eid-ul-Fitr. The protests were subdued and on low-key. Samaikyandhra JAC had announced on Thursday it was exempting transport services and shops from the purview of bandh on Ramzan. A large number of Muslims prayed for keeping the State united.

In Srikakulam, former Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao along with Palasa MLA J Jagannayakulu, Tekkali MLA Korla Bharati, Amudalavalasa MLA B Satyavathi, Etcherla MLA Neelakantham and MLC Viswaprasad resigned to their posts to protest against bifurcation of state. There was an all-round applause for Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for standing by the Seemandhra people.
