Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) floor leader in Assembly T Harish Rao on Sunday criticised Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for making preparations for State Formation Day on November 1 on a grand scale, even as the State was yet to recover from the impact of heavy floods. Speaking to newsmen at Assembly media point, Harish informed that Rs 100 crore was earmarked for the fete. Of this, Rs 45 crore was meant for advertisements in print and electronic media besides hoardings.
Instead, this amount could be handed over to the agriculture community, which was looking for a helping hand to overcome from the severe losses incurred in the floods, he said. Harish pointed out that wasting public money at this juncture did not make sense when demerger of the State was taking place.
He also sought an inquiry into the role of Kiran Reddy’s sibling in a private advertisement agency that got crores of rupees as advertisement revenue after Kiran Reddy took over as the Chief Minister.
