Expressing their gratitude to UPA chairperson and Congress president Sonia Gandhi for taking the decision to carve out Telangana State, the Telangana Congress leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha, Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao, Ministers Jana Reddy and DK Aruna, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Uttamkumar Reddy, Sunita Lakshma Reddy and Sridhar Babu, and several MPs, MLAs and MLCs addressed a mammoth gathering at Teru Maidanam here on Tuesday. Damodara Rajanarasimha said that the true colours of Seemandhra leaders had come out after the Union Cabinet had decided to form a separate state of Telangana. He said that the Seemandhra leaders, who launched the Jai Andhra agitation in 1972, were now chanting for a united Andhra Pradesh for reasons best known to them. “Telangana people should understand the evil designs of Seemandhra leaders and be on guard,” he cautioned.
Betraying the trust of his wife, a man has attempted to kill her by pouring acid and strangulating her. According to delayed information reaching the district headquarters here on Tuesday, Aruna of Gundlamudunuru village of Hatnoor mandal got married to Anjaneyulu of Shivampet village in Pulkal mandal seven years ago. They have two children.
For the last few months, Anjaneyulu who has been suspecting the fidelity of his wife Aruna, has been quarrelling with her. On Saturday leaving the two children at Shivampet, Anjaneyulu took his wife to Yadagirigutta. One of his friends has joined them on the way.
Both of them have taken Aruna to an isolated place and attempted to stab her with a knife. When she resisted Anjaneyulu threw acid on her. Due to the severe acid burns Aruna has become unconscious. Then they tried to strangulate her with a towel. They left her in a bush thinking she died.
However, Aruna has returned to consciousness on Sunday morning and with the help of passersby went to a hospital. With the help of the local police there, she went to her relatives who got her admitted in a private hospital.
Aruna informed about the attempt on her life to the doctors who shifted her to the government hospital. Aruna told the media persons at the government on Tuesday about the attempt on her life. she said that she would lodge a complaint against her husband with the police.
