Two Maoists were killed in an encounter with the police in the Lankapalli forest area of Chintur mandal in Khammam district on Thursday. According to the sources, Sabari area committee secretary Mukka Naresh and his associate Ramu died in the encounter.
The police recovered two SLR guns and revolutionary literature from the spot. The police shifted the bodies to the Government Hospital at Chintur for autopsy.
The slain Moist Naresh hailed from Pochavaram village of Regunda mandal in Warangal district. He played an active role in strengthening the Maoist base in the Agency areas close to Andhra Pradesh-Chhattisgarh border in the last four years. He had been carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head.
