Hyderabad: As part of their last ditch efforts to stall the process of bifurcation of State, Seemandhra lawyers filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
The Public interest litigation (PIL) questioned and challenged the Cabinet Secretariat’s notification on bifurcation issued on October 8, where it cleared bifurcation of the existing State of Andhra Pradesh into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, with Hyderabad as the capital of the State of Telangana. The petition claimed that the decision was illegal, unreasonable, arbitrary and against the provisions of Article 2,3,4,14,21, 73 and 371-D of the Constitution.
Earlier four other PILs were filed and were listed before Supreme Court for November 18. The petition was filed invoking the provisions of Article 32 of the Constitution. It pleads the apex court to quash the notification on bifurcation of October 8, as it violates Article 14. Muppalla Subba Rao, Anisetty Chandra Mohan, P Rajesh Babu, Ponnavolu Sudhakara Reddy, Ajay Kumar Veena, B Murali Krishna Raju, Atluri Prasoon Kumar, Vedula Venkatesh and Saladi Babji filed the plea against the Central and State governments.
