Devotees raise ‘Jai Samaikyandhra slogans’

Tirumala: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy arrived here on Thursday by a special plane and had ‘darshan’ of Lord Venkateswara. He also attended the marriage of former Piler sarpanch Srikanth Reddy’s daughter.

When devotees saw the CM in front the temple, they became emotional and raised ‘Jai Samaikyandhra’ slogans. Officials of the TTD warned them against political sloganeering in Tirumala. However, Reddy just smiled and waved to them. In Tirumala, several Congress leaders called on him and reportedly discussed political matters. Among them were were Venkataramana, former Tirupati MLA, ex-municipal chairman Kandati Shankar Reddy, former Piler legislator Srinadh Reddy and leaders of Kuppam, Punganur and Srikalahasti constituencies. Sources said issues such as party affairs, government schemes and Samaikyandhra agitation figured in the meeting.
