TJAC, BJP and TRLD leaders warn of intensifying stir

Hyderabad: The Congress party’s proposal to merge two districts of Rayalaseema, Kurnool and Anantapur, with Telangana is being strongly opposed by T JAC and pro-Telangana parties like Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Telangana Rashtriaya Lok Dal (TRLD). Sharply reacting to the speculations from New Delhi on Saturday, T JAC warned of launching an intensified agitation if the GoM makes any such recommendations and if the Congress high command accepts it.

The people in the region only want Telangana with its 10 districts, the parties said. Speaking to reporters after a TJAC steering committee meeting here on Saturday, JAC leaders G Rajender Reddy, Addanki Dayaker and Srinivas Goud said that the proposal to club parts of Rayalaseema with Telangana does not make sense, since dialects, culture and traditions of both regions do not match. Moreover, Rayalaseema region contributed many Chief Ministers to the State who did not bother about the welfare of the T people for the last five decades. In this backdrop, T community was in no mood to face similar kind of treatment and allow the leaders of Rayalaseema to grab CMs post even in the new State, they said. BJP senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya appealed to the Centre to concede Telangana state with ten districts as resolved by the CWC.
