CM, Ministers go into a Huddle at Dinner Party, CM's Speech opposing the Draft T Bill. Among those who attended the dinner were Ministers Kasu Krishna Reddy, Pithani Satyanarayana, Dokka Manikya Varaprasad, Vatti Vasant Kumar and some MLAs.

Speculations rife over possibility of CM resigning and launching a new party after Assembly session

Hyderabad: Speculations, that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy would step down after making a marathon speech opposing the draft T Bill in the state Assembly, and that he would launch a new political party, gained credence as he utilised a dinner hosted by Minister K Parthasarthy at Vijayawada on Saturday to discuss the political strategies.

It is learnt that some of the Ministers and MLAs from the Seemandhra region felt that they should resign and create constitutional crisis. However, Kiran Reddy is learnt to have told them that they should not do anything in haste. Resigning at this stage would amount to leaving the battlefield and running away. He said since the Bill was now slated to come to the Assembly, they should move in a strategic manner. He also reiterated that they should mobilise the support of other Seemandhra MLAs cutting across party affiliations.

He expressed hope that the President Pranab Mukherjee would give enough time to discuss the Bill and send it back to him. Earlier, in the case of three states that were formed by the NDA government, President had given six weeks time. “Let us fight till the end,” Kiran is learnt to have told his colleagues.

Kiran said instead of sending the Bill back in a hurry, they would discuss the Bill issue by issue and taking it in its totality. So that it would help to explain as to why and how the provisions were against the interests of the state and why the state should not be divided.

The Chief Minister also told them that he had consulted some former judges of the Supreme Court who explained to him on the constitutional hurdles the Bill could face when challenged in the court. He told the leaders that they should try to use all opportunities to force the centre to have a relook into the issue of bifurcation.

Among those who attended the dinner were Ministers Kasu Krishna Reddy, Pithani Satyanarayana, Dokka Manikya Varaprasad, Vatti Vasant Kumar and some MLAs.
