Police gear up as APNGOs and others threaten to lay siege during Assembly Session

Hyderabad: Elaborate security arrangements are being made for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the session of State Legislative Assembly beginning from December 12. Speaking to reporters after attending a high-level review meeting held by Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar on Monday, City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said that the fool-proof security measures would be ensured during the Assembly session. Multi-tier security arrangements are being made.

He said that about 900 personnel would be deployed and all roads leading towards the Assembly will be brought under security-net.

The Commissioner said that CCTV cameras would also be installed at strategic points in and outside the Assembly premises. A few groups like the APNGOs opposing the bifurcation have already threatened to lay siege to the assembly during the debate on the bill.

He added that prohibitory orders would be enforced in and around the Assembly building and no protest or agitations would be allowed.

Meanwhile, Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu told reporters that Telangana bill would come up for debate during the session. He sought cooperation of all parties for a smooth conduct of the proceedings. The Minister said the Business advisory committee meeting of the Legislative Assembly and Council will be held on Thursday evening.
