Hyderabad: Stung by the sudden revolt by Congress MPs and the recent statement of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy that he would see that the draft T Bill was defeated in the state Assembly, the Congress high command has decided to send general secretary in-charge of state affairs Digvijay Singh to take up damage control exercise.

He is arriving here on Thursday to speak to the MLAs, particularly from the Seemandhra region, and try to see that the resistance from their side to the draft T Bill gets neutralised to the extent possible. He will also try and assess if Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy was really contemplating to launch his own party. Sources say that the party high command feels that these leaders were making a serious effort to launch a political party soon. In the backdrop of this situation it remains to be seen whether the AICC pointsman will have any detailed meeting with Kiran or not.

It is learnt that the party high command suspects the move of Seemandhra MPs to serve notice of No-Confidence was worked out at the dinner meeting some Seemandhra leaders had with Kiran at Vijayawada when he inaugurated the Pulichintala irrigation project. It may be mentioned here that the lead to give the No-Confidence motion was taken by Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal who attended the launching of Pulichintala project along with Kiran Reddy.

On the other hand, APNGO president P Ashok Babu said that itsmembers would gherao Digvijay Singh to express their strong opposition to the bifurcation of the state.
