Hyderabad: Justice Ramesh Ranganathan of the AP High Court on Tuesday ordered issue of notices to Minister D Sridhar Babu and others on a writ petition, seeking directions to police to register a criminal case against them for alleged illegal detention and torture of Gaddam Sriram, a Telangana Students JAC leader and law student of Osmania University.
The judge was dealing with a writ petition filed by Sriram’s wife V Swaroopa, an M Phil student of English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad. Following the court direction earlier, a medical report was placed before the court in a sealed cover on Tuesday. The report said that the injuries were simple in nature and there was no need to keep the patient in the hospital. The judge ordered shifting of the detenu to Chanchalguda prison in the city until further orders, and adjourned the case hearing by a week
