Kiran denies plans for new party, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy's New Party. Reddy said that he had received several requests from the people of Telangana also asking him to keep the State united and he would make all attempts for that.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday stated that he had not thought of floating a new political party and stated that he was not on collision course with the party high command.
In an informal chat with the media at his camp office here, Kiran said that as of now he had no intention to launch a political party though some Seemandhra leaders were exerting pressure on him.
When asked about his decision to divest Minister for Legislative Affairs Sridhar Babu of his portfolio, Kiran said that he had not violated any rule. It was his prerogative to change the portfolio. He said nothing much should be read into it by the media.
On the issue of bifurcation of the State, he said, "I have never defied my party high command. I am only questioning the party's policy on the issue of State bifurcation as it needs to be thoroughly discussed in the State Assembly. At present my entire focus is on the conduct of the Assembly, which will meet on January 3”.
Reddy said that he had received several requests from the people of Telangana also asking him to keep the State united and he would make all attempts for that.
The Chief Minister appealed to the leaders of all regions as well as all parties to debate the draft Telangana Bill in the Assembly. Kiran said if the debate took place then it would be possible to discuss in detail the losses and gains to each region in the event of State division.
Referring to the statements made by YSRCP that it would obstruct the Bill, he said such measures would be of no benefit to the people of either region. A debate will also expose the stand of the YSRCP and leader of opposition N Chandrababu Naidu on the issue of bifurcation.
“The Seemandhra leaders can take the first chance to express their opinion if all agree. If necessary the Assembly can urge the President to give some more time for discussion,’’ he added. Kiran, who uses cricket jargon during his briefings, said no one should yet think that they had hit a four or six. “We should hit the ball only after it is bowled. If we swing the bat before the ball is bowled then we will be out of the match,’’ he stated.
