As per the latest stats released by the Reserve Bank of India, Andhra Pradesh has been indebted a huge sum of Rs.1.94 Lakh Crores, whereas the population of the state is 8.46 Crores.

Based on these statistics, if we share the debt amount per each individual in the state, it turns to be Rs. 22,938. As compared to previous accounting year 2012-13, the debts pertaining to Andhra Pradesh have been on a rise by Rs.0.25lakh in 2013-14.

As per these stats, Andhra Pradesh attains the fourth rank among the debt burdened states in the country. Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal are placed in the first three positions, respectively.

When we scrutinise the expenditure details of the state, 67 per cent amount is spent towards development and 12 per cent towards debt service. It means AP state is spending 12% of its income alone on repayment of debts, which in turns helps to increase an aid in the loans.
